Hollywood always takes a political beating. However, after this experience, I have a profound respect for the art of film making. I had the opportunity to be cast as an extra (background person) in "The Crazies". While acting relies on incredible talent (the foreground people), what I found thoroughly amazing is the basic success attributes required (patience, determination, creativity, vision, teamwork and commitment) for a project to succeed.
The set had roughly 150 staff and cast members. Each element, from a lowly extra, wardrobe, make up, lighting and sound, special effects and who knows what all the elements are, are co-dependent on each other fullfilling their objective. When all the elements are combined the finished product can be quite unique. There are so many "little" things that if done right produce a massive result.
My experience was amazing. These people are all tremendously professional and completely courteous. Amazing, simply amazing.
